Meet The Doctor
Dr. Olawale Olabiyi, MD, FACC is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist in San Antonio, Texas. With his years of experience and skills in pediatric cardiology, both congenital and non-congenital cardiac problems in children are adequately assessed and managed by him.
Dr. Olabiyi, MD, FACC is the Medical Director of Pediatric Cardiology Consultants of South Texas (PCCST). He is affiliated with Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, and Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio.
His academic appointments include Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and Associate Professor at Jos University Teaching Hospital, Plateau State, Nigeria.
His medical training started at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Internship and residency were completed with distinction at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology was completed at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
An acknowledged leader in his field with diverse interests including coronary anomaly management, congenital heart disease, and acquired heart diseases such as Kawasaki disease and valvular disease.
His research interests include coronary artery anomalies, quality of care and outcomes research, and advocating for improved care in minimal resource environments.
His missionary work includes medical mission trips to Abuja, Jos, and Uyo in Nigeria to implement medical and surgical programs.
He is the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology for Hospitals for Humanity, an NGO based out of Atlanta, Georgia with a mission to improve and provide comprehensive pediatric cardiac care to West Africa. He founded the first telemedicine clinic between pediatric cardiologists in West Africa and the US.
Dr. Olabiyi fosters the education of medical students, residents, and physicians both in the US and internationally. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Texas Medical Association.
He is a father of 4 children and married to the love of life, his wife who is accomplished in Strategy and Innovation. In their spare time, the family enjoys going to church, exercising, and traveling the world together.
He recommends that even if a child has no risk factors of cardiac disease, it is always best to have an annual workup to carefully rule out any hidden or asymptomatic conditions that might affect a child's growth and wellbeing in the future.
